A narrative experiment using 16 mm projection, and digital video camera for capture.
I've had dogs all of my life, since I was a kid. I was struck by how loving these animals look in this old footage that I found in a discarded film can. Film that was originally intended as educational content about the danger of rabies in dogs is transformed in this a one-time set-up and projection capture.
On this project, I experimented in the space between analog and digital. Using 16mm reel film and a projector, I reveal the physicality of the analog material. By placing myself, in the film in the form of moving shadows during the projection, adjusting the position, fiddling with frame speed and minor digital editing; a new narrative emerged re-contextualizing the original content of the footage.
